Speaking the day after Syria and Israel announced they had resumed informal talks broken off more than a decade ago, Babacan said that both sides had declared their satisfaction over an initial round of discussions held in Istanbul this week.
The Israeli-Syrian leg of the Middle Eastern peace process officially resumed after 13 years and the talks will continue under Turkeys supervision, Babacan told a press conference in Ankara.
Future direct talks between the two parties hinged on concrete progress they would make in the process, he said.
Turkey will do anything in its power to secure a successful result, the Foreign Minister said.
The details of the talks would not be made public in line with the wishes of both Israeli and Syrian officials, Babacan said, adding that future talks might be held elsewhere other than Istanbul or Turkey.
