Controversy over spreading diarrhea cases in Turkey

The Aksaray municipality insists that the tap water is clean and that reports given by experts of the health ministry support this.

ISTANBUL - More than 7000 Turks have been hospitalized suffering from diarrhea in the provinces of Aksaray, Ankara Sereflikochisar and Siirt.

So far there has been 4000 people diagnosed with diarrhea in Aksaray in central Turkey and more than 3000 cases in the town of Seferlikochisar in Ankara.

Despite the Health Ministry blaming unclean tap water, Aksaray’s mayor Nevazt Palta said that test results showed the water was pure.

A Health Ministry report said that in Seferlikochisar at certain points the process of chlorine addition to water was inadequate.
